What is pin definition about the COM port? A. Next is communication port instruction:
Programming port/RS232 port(ELC-RS232 ,ELC-USB,ELC-Copier.. should be inserted in this port, program port is TTL signal, it is not allowed to ex-connect directly away)
RS232 port 2x3 PIN in CPU(PR-6,PR-12,PR-18,ELC-18) is TTL signal :
PIN1: TXD PIN6: RXD PIN4: GND
RS232 port 2x3 PIN in CPU(EXM,ELC-12-N) is TTL signal :
PIN1: TXD PIN6: RXD PIN4: GND RS232 port 2x3 PIN in CPU(PR-24,ELC-22-N/ELC-26) is TTL signal :
PIN1: TXD PIN6: RXD PIN4: GND

2. Expansion port/RS485 ( pin definition)
Note: You can directly connect pin3 and pin5 to RS485 module without PR-RS485 extension module for the DC type CPU, AC type CPU is not allowed direct connect with RS485 network, because it has no isolation(So AC type CPU must be connected with RS485 module if it is required to connect with RS485 devices).
EXM seriesor ELC-12-N Ethernet CPUs
1. Programming port/RS232 port(ELC-RS232 ,ELC-USB,ELC-Copier,ELC-MEMORY should be inserted in this port) Named COM1. When the programming port should be used as the standard RS232 port (D-shape 9 pin header) ,the ELC-RS232 cable needed.
Expansion port/RS485 ( pin definition(2X3 pin female figure)(only applied to EXM and ELC-12-N Ethernet CPU).
Communication between CPU and expansion module will use 1,6 pin.This named COM1. EXM-E-RS485 module need when ELC-12-N or EXMCPU communicate with the third party devices via RS485 bus and the pin 1,6 should be used by EXM-E-RS485 module as well, so EXM-E-RS485 cannot be applied with other IO expansions together. Note :1.The baud rates of COM0,COM1 can be modified via the panel key. 2. The COM1 port also can work as the common RS485 port ,when there is no expansion module in the application . 3. RTC battery also can be inserted into expansion port if the program port is used.
